Better dubbed , the battle of Brazil , two Brazilian club sides and familiar foes in football , Palmerias of Sao Paulo faces domestic rivals Botafogo of Rio de Janerio this evening at the Financial Field Stadium in Philadelphia at the on going FIFA Club World Cup , 2025 edition .

Palmeiras got to the round of 16 stage with two late goals that saw them salvage a point to group A runners up Inter Miami and claim the Group first position without losing a match .

They kicked off their campaign with a goalless draw with Porto as well as a win against Egyptian giants Al Ahly 2-0 in their second match ,bringing their points tally to five points which was enough for a first place finish in Group A ahead of Lionel Messi s Inter Miami who took the second position.
The Verdao as they are popularly called in Brazilian league , qualified for this tournament with their back to back win in the Copa Libertodores in 2020 and 2021 have been in the fore front of South American qualification in the new format of the Club Wolrld Cup for the round of 16.

Though , Botafogo dethroned them lately in the domestic league last year ,the last two Campeonato Brazilerio champions are set to lock horns for the first time since Match Day One in the current Brazilian Serie A championship .
We expect an exciting match in there tow local rivals after their last outing in March that ended 0-0 with about 26 shots that was not converted to goals , so we also look forward to another superb football rivalry this weekend .
